Accept your past and define your resilience
I am a licensed psychologist and retired police officer, specializing in working with emergency first responders (police, fire, paramedics, nurses, doctors) and military personnel. I can help you and and your spouse with troubling past traumatic experiences that are still effecting you and your interpersonal relationships.
I retired from law enforcement at the rank of captain. I worked detectives, SWAT, as defensive tactic instructor, a range master, and peer support. I worked as an intern for the Vet Center, working with combat veterans as I studied for my doctorate from Alliant International University in San Diego. I am also a proud USMC reservist (84-88).
I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT).
For consulting, I have trained hundreds of personnel from public agencies and private companies in de-escalation techniques and active listening skills. I am currently an adjunct professor at Miramar College and a consultant with the Psychiatric Emergency Response Team (PERT) and the San Diego District Attorney's Office. In those instructional capacities, I train police, fire, private companies, and college employees on mental illness awareness, de-escalation techniques in stressful situations and active listening skills.
